Star Trek Federation: The First 150 Years by David A. Goodman
Like thousands of other people across the world, I have been lulled into the world of Star Trek due to the newly weaved tales by J.J Abrams. Now (thanks to Netflix) I am starting at the beginning with Season 1 and was also lucky enough to indulge myself with Star Trek Federation: The First 150 Years by David A. Goodman from Titan Books.
This illustrated guide follows the story of the United Federation of Plants from 2063 up to 2311, from Cochrane’s Flight to The New Era. Stuffed full of interview, documents, logs, memoirs and accounts it really brings the era to life. And not to get you too excited but it’s also got Jame T. Kirk’s official biography!
For newbies to Star Trek such as myself, this book fills in many of the gaps that come up when you’ve watched random episodes here and there and gives a great background to watching any of the series or movies. If you’re already a self-proclaimed Trekkie them this is a truly unmissable book. Whether you take it 100% seriously or with a pinch of salt and good humour Star Trek Federation: The First 150 Years is a fountain of knowledge for all Star Trek fans.
