Bookish Buys: August 2018

Summer is still going strong in the UK and it looks like August is going to be another scorcher of a month, perfect for all that reading in the park. But every now and again there are times where reading isn’t practical and life gets in the way (I know, rude!), so here’s my pick of bookish buys so you can show off your book love, even when you’re not reading.

Fight Club t-shirt

Book Club book t-shirt

This Fight Club / Book Club mashup from Teefury is spot on and instantly recognisable. It comes in a ton of different sizes and cuts for men, women and children, making it suitable for pretty much everyone. It ships from the USA but the postage is very reasonable so no need to worry that the delivery will be double the t-shirt price. I’ve shopped with Teefury for years and I’ve always been really happy with their unique geeky t-shirts and their service.

Suck book lamp

Suck UK supply some of the quirkiest practical products out there and this book rest lamp is one of my favourites. I’m forever using press releases and little scraps of paper as a bookmark so I much prefer the idea of putting my book down on a little light like this when I get called away for a moment. This lamp is cute, functional and simple enough to fit in with any decor, it’s a no-brainer for book lovers!

alice in wonderland pyjama set

This Alice in Wonderland pyjama set from ASOS is beyond adorable. Shorts are far cooler to sleep in during this hot weather so this set, featuring a classic Alice illustration, is perfect for chilling out in (and is mighty Instagram-able if I do say so). Available from UK sizes from 4 through 30 so there’s a set to fit almost everyone!

Available from ASOS Design (UK 4-18) and ASOS Design Curve (up to UK 30)

Coraline Funko Pop

Coraline is one of my favourite Neil Gaiman characters so I was very excited to see Funko Pop releasing a handful of vinyl figures (Coraline as a doll, as shown above, is my favourite). These are on pre-order for release in September but I’ve missed out on ones I’ve wanted by not pre-ordering so don’t make the same mistake as me, get in there and order yours now.

Pre-order your Coraline as a Doll Funko Pop from My Geek Box.

Scott Pilgrim Card Game

I’ve been dying to get my mitts on Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Card Game since I saw it advertised last year so maybe this will be the month I get around to treating myself.

Defeat Ramona Flowers evil exes, combine the right cards to make combo blows and create your own Scott Pilgrim storyline. There’s no way I’m going to explain this better than the official trailer, so here you go:
