Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Mobile Game

Even though the last Harry Potter book was written in 2007 the love for everything Hogwarts related continues to go from strength to strength. Last week saw developers Jam City and author J.K. Rowling launch Harry Potter in a new digital format with Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.
Released on 25 April 2018, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is one of the first free to play Harry Potter mobile phone game to hit the market on iPhone and Android (although expect to want to spend some money later to make the most of it). The game features an entirely original storyline that takes place before Harry, Hermione and Ron attend the school.

As a player, you join Hogwarts as an eleven-year-old receiving your Hogwarts letter. Whether you’re a good student or not doesn’t matter, your brother has been expelled and run away, so suspicious eyes are on you. Could you be just as rebellious? Choose your house, attend a class, learn those spells and throw yourself into the magical world you know and love.

What’s even better than just being immersed in the world, is being spellbound by the voices. The game features the familiar delivery of Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall, Michael Gambon returns as Professor Dumbledore. Gemma Jones is back as Madam Pomfrey, Sally Mortemore as Madam Pince, Zoe Wanamaker as Madam Hooch, and Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick.

Although this is a free to play game every action uses up valuable energy and when you're out of energy you have to either wait for it to rise again or pay to play on. If you're playing on short commutes once a day, then this is fine but it will put a lot of people off sitting down to play for any serious length of time (especially when wait times start 25 minutes in and can last up to 8 hours).

  1. I am playing for few days. It's fun and harmless. The energy refill is a bit annoying, but as I am playing while working I can live with this. The most cool thing in this game is that there is a mystery I am keep investigating, so It may not get boring as other games.

    1. Hi Robert, I'm the same as you. The refill is annoying but the mystery has me hooking, it looks great too!
